Cascadia Marketing: Founder & Principal (2009 – Present)

As founder and president of Cascadia Marketing(formerly Solaia Consulting, founded in 2009), I help companies to discover, articulate and communicate their unique and authentic brand story and then develop and execute marketing plans and communications to infuse and integrate the brand story throughout the organization. Along with three colleagues, I have also authored a white paper entitled '360 Brand Story Building’.

My recent and current clients include Habitat for Humanity, Wildland Adventures, Adventure Travel Trade Association, Austin-Lehman Adventures, Discover France Adventures, Yukon Business Development Program and MIR Corporation.

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants: Senior Vice President, Branding & Communications (2007-2008)

At Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, I directed a major branding and research project involving both guests and employees utilizing the StoryTellings™ process. As a result, my team: a) defined and articulated core essence and fundamental themes/truths of Kimpton brand; b) redefined the company's brand architecture; c) identified key brand touch points to better distinguish and differentiate each sub-brand collection; and d) created new brand standards that were the foundation for substantial improvements to Kimpton web site and its online, traditional and in-room marketing materials.

TCS Private Jet Expeditions: President (2004-2007)

I joined TCS Expeditions the pioneer of private jet adventure travel in early 2004. As part of a major turnaround initiative, my team and I optimized the company’s distribution channel resulting in significant growth of both direct and travel agency bookings while reducing marketing costs as percentage of total revenue and setting an all-time record for jet occupancy in FY 2007 of over 95%. In December 2006, I was honored to be the recipient of the Leaders in Luxury award in the Tour Operator category at the Luxury Travel Expo, sponsored by Questex Media.

Virtuoso: Director, Destination Sales & Supplier Relations (2001-2004)

At Virtuoso, I managed three lines of preferred suppliers: active/adventure tour operators, tourism boards and 120+ inbound ground operators, located in dozens of countries. I was co-founder of VAST (Virtuoso Active & Specialty Travel), a collective designed to showcase the tremendous depth and variety of Virtuoso preferred suppliers in the active, adventure and specialty travel niche.

Mountain Travel Sobek: Director of Marketing (1996-2000)

Mountain Travel Sobek  is one of the founding firms that defined adventure travel. The company recorded all-time records for bookings, sales revenue and profits in 1997-1999 and I managed the design and production of the annual catalog that won gold medals in the Consumer Specialty Category at the Direct Marketing Association annual conferences for three consecutive years. I was member of small team that launched Adventure Collection consortium which is still active today with over ten member companies.
